How the problem started
The problem first became noticeable early in 2004 as occasional pains in the calf of the right leg. Gradually this developed into periods of increasing pain manifesting themselves as unpredictably occurring spasms. The spasms slowly became more frequent and more seriously painful and spread to the lower spine.
Its effect on her life
Carole tried various treatments with physiotherapy and chiropractors but to no avail. The effect of the treatment failures was that Carole became increasingly reluctant to move about normally and more particularly to bend.
Going up or down steps (even such as stepping on or off kerbs) could be a trigger for the pain spasms. She also became increasingly wary of crowded areas and fearful of being knocked over.
Proscribed treatments with painkillers were found to give only temporary relief and Carole became worried about the dosages she was having to take and the effect that the medication was having on her digestive system.
The treatment she had
Following consultations with Mr. Krishna it was concluded that Carole was suffering from gradual degeneration of the bone of the lower spine discs which was in turn causing pressure on the spinal nerves and in particular on those nerves which were connected to the legs and which as a result were causing the leg pains.
It was proposed that Carole should undergo a “Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion” procedure and this was performed by Mr. Krishna in November 2006.
How she is now
Following the operation Carole was very quickly on her feet again with none of the periods of excruciating pain that she had had before. This happy position has continued to the present time and Carole finds that she can do most of the things that she wants, including her garden activities and walking.
In the light of her experiences Carole feels that she can recommend her treatment to anyone with similar problems to hers. She will certainly be forever grateful to Mr. Krishna and his team.
