After 32 years of back pain and four GPs involved in my care, I feel that I was referred to the wrong consultant.

I was sent to an Orthopaedic Surgeon, and after three visits I was told that if I modified my life then maybe in five years time surgery could be done. I had been off work for six months and spent twenty weeks lying on a sofa. I was given 22 pain killers a day and also morphine patches. There was no way I was prepared to accept the conclusion from the Orthopaedic Surgeon.

After discussing things with my husband Trevor, we decided that we would deal with my back problems ourselves. We had heard from various people about Mr Krishna and found him on the Internet. It was a Saturday morning, we rang his secretary and she gave us an appointment to see Mr Krishna on the following Monday morning. I asked him a direct question – could he do the surgery to help me walk again? He immediately replied ‘yes I can fix that’ after he had looked at my X-rays. Five weeks later I had the surgery. I had an overnight stay in hospital and was offered pain relief after surgery and I didn’t need it. I have never taken pain killers since that day.

I can’t thank Mr Krishna and his team of experts enough for the care, trust and time taken to listen and give me my life back. I am now enjoying being back at work in a job I have had for 38 years.
