It is now 3 and a half years since my PLIF and I feel great. I’m 36 years old now but my back problems started in my early 20′s.

Back then it would only take a week or so to get back to normal, but as the years went on it would take longer and longer until It just didn’t get better. I would go to my doctors and be told that nothing much could be done about it and I would just have to keep taking painkillers. I then went private and was told the same thing. I was devastated but then I changed Physio’s and he put me in touch with Mr. KrIshna. I showed Mr. Krishna my MRI scans (which had been taken 18 month previous) and he said that my bottom 3 discs were in very bad shape but he could help. I went on to have a Discogram which backed up what the MRI showed that i needed to have my lower 3 discs removed.

I used to be very active but my back pain had stopped all that. I couldn’t play football or golf anymore but worst of all I could do very little with my family. I was stuck in the house feeling trapped – it made me feel very low. Normal day to day things were becoming hard to do: things like, getting up the stairs, preparing and cooking dinners, washing and drying dishes. All the things you normally do without thinking had become a major problem.

In the end my back was all twisted and everytime I moved from a level surface (stairs or kerbs etc) I would trap nerves in my back and would normally end up on the floor in agony. It had got to the point that I would have prefered to be in a wheelchair with no pain than be like i was.

In November 2005, Mr. Krishna removed the problem and gave me my life back. Surgery went well and although the first night wasn’t the best night I’ve ever had, from then on it has been improvement all the way. I go to the gym 2 to 3 times a week to make sure I don’t stiffen up, I’m now back playing football once a week and I help coach a local under 9′s team. I go out with my family at weekends and walk for miles.

3 and a half years ago I felt I was ready for the scrap heap, now I feel as though I could take on the world!
